You’re kidding, right?

We got a call that the van was done. I am still in shock. The bill was slightly over $1,000 MORE than the estimate. ONE THOUSAND! I’m in shock, I’m angry as all get out, I’m freakin out. I’m actually having an anxiety attack just writing this post.

We did not deal directly with the shop. Our mechanic dealt with them. Apparently we were not quoted the labor. It would have been nice to have been given an estimate that included labor. We could have then shopped around a little. Go to our previous shop. Go to the shop our older couple friends recommended.

We are putting the van up for sale in the next couple of days. I need to research the asking price. The shop that did the work did give a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty and said he would honor it for the next owner.

This cold spell needs to STOP! It’s freakin cold when you can’t turn on your furnace. We have oil filled space heaters, and they help, but we need sweatpants, hoodies, and blankets too.

Met our older couple friends for breakfast, which turned into hanging at their house. The husband was explaining a better way to go about prepping to put in the new sump pump, and putting it in. He has back issues, so he can’t do a lot of the work, but he could come over and coach my spouse. My spouse doesn’t want him over because the house is messy. I’m not happy with the mess either, but for heaven’s sake! It’s past time to suck it up buttercup! Go tidy, go do whatever. We need the new sump pump in and to have the furnace looked at. Praying that the furnace will work fine and get us to spring, and maybe beyond.

It’s not like this is my first rodeo. At my house in the city the boiler went out on NYE and it took over a week to find a company that serviced boilers, get parts, etc.

In other news...
Bubba is doing better. She’s able to jump up on the bed on her own. She even started a cat fight with Irish yesterday.

Just got off the phone with my daughter. She doesn’t think she exhibited bad behavior this past weekend. Seriously? I told her she wasn’t coming for a home visit and she needs to spend some time thinking about the previous good weekend and figure out how she can model that good behavior on her next visit. She sounded hurt when I told her. I calmly and succinctly explained it all.

She has issues at the group home. When she called me the police were there. Apparently the troubled housemate was fighting with staff and beating up the staff member. When the police came the staff member said she had to call her boss to answer the question ‘do you want to press charges?’ Why? The housemate hit her repeatedly. Why do you need to ask permission? You got hit repeatedly, not your boss.

Thursday my spouse booked an appointment before mine. Follow-up. Then I have the cyst removed.

As I was confirming appointments this morning I discovered that I have to schedule my bloodwork and MRI’s for my 15 month checkup. The MRI tech will NOT be doing my IV for the contrast.

Thinking warm thoughts...
