Clean

Wednesday was my birthday. Tuesday night my spouse decided to hand wash my new (to me) car.

Not the way I do it, but I haven’t been able to clean it since I got it 2 months ago.

Thank you for your thoughtful birthday surprise!

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

Birthday

The ride to lunch at the The Launching Pad  was about 25 minutes. Not bad. It was actually a pleasant ride. My spouse and I took turns torturing the kids belting out 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s songs.

Dang! My hair flattened out. It’s definitely a Faux Hawk and I love it! Wolf did an amazing job. It was like we had a psychic connection because very few words were exchanged and it’s perfect. Lol!

You’d think they coordinated their outfits. Lol! The food was ok. I think it’s more of a tourist thing for young families. The people there were so friendly. It was like going back in time. There was a very spry senior who greeted everyone, made sure we had what we needed, then he bussed the tables after we had finished. Tully, the owner, even came by to check on us, on everyone. He and his partner, Holly, remodeled the place and opened a couple of months ago. It’s on Route 66 across the street from the smallest Buick dealership I’ve ever seen.

Look at me rockin those skinny jeans and that oversized shirt. Next time I need to tuck it in, or what’s the new thing now? The French Tuck click to see how it’s done on the Queer Eye show on Netflix. Love that show!

Afterwards we drove home, ran an errand, and went for ice cream at Raffy’s. They’ve been in town since 2015. I’ve been there 3 times. First as a lookey lew. Then last time and this time for their Black Cherry Ice Cream. It’s no Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia, no chocolate chunks, but it’s chock full of black cherries, and more flavorful.

Then 2 more errands and home. Bubbles and kite flying will have to wait until Friday, when my daughter will be here again.

So that was my birthday. It was a good one!

Back to binge watching Veronica Mars. I love Kristen Bell. Not in a creepy way. She seems to play a lot of characters that are cheerful and quirky.

Happy Birthday to me

Nice face. The more I look at the photo now, the more I see how much I resemble my Dad. Maybe it’s the hair. Lol!

So it’s just me and the immediate family.

Hoping for good weather. I think we’ll save the childish festivities until we return home from our little road trip. Not really even a road trip...it’s only a 30 minute drive.

I ramble too much. I have too many unrealistic expectations. And that’s really sad because I really don’t have many expectations. Now I’m just hoping to get through the day without an awful tension headache. How silly of me. I’ll have a monster one. There is not a snowball’s chance in hell that everyone will be on their best behavior.

Wish me luck! And wish me a margarita or JD on the rocks. I’m sure it will be the later after we get home. I’m gonna need it.

Mixed Bag

Daughter’s extended home visit through this morning was good Wednesday-Saturday. Sunday things got tense. Monday morning...not good at all. It seems silly, but I have to get her Tuesday night so she can spend my birthday with us Wednesday. Then possibly back to her house Thursday, then back here Friday. It’s a lot of back and forth. If everyone could get along it could just be another extended home visit. If it goes south, she can’t stay the entire time. Besides, she should be going to day program and doing her chores at her house.

So the festivities start Wednesday with lunch. A short road trip on Route 66 to The Launching Pad in Wilmington, IL, home of the Gemini Giant. We’ve never been there, looks like fun.

Friday my daughter will be at our village’s Proud American Days. Every year on the Friday of the event they close down for disabled/special needs people that are in area day programs. I think even the carnival rides are free. We can pick her up from there like we did last year, so not so much driving. Friday we will also have lunch or dinner at a sushi place we all enjoy. That’s as far as I know about the birthday festivities, other than going for my birthday freebies...Starbucks, Culver’s...I’ve got a list of at least a dozen birthday freebies. I won’t use them all, I never do.

I also got the bubble wands for the family...and...I got a butterfly kite at Jewel! It was half price. I didn’t need another trip to Walmart. Yay!!!

I’ve recently participated in a couple of Blog Memes, which I enjoyed very much in the past. “Sunday Stealing” is my favorite. I’ve been looking for others to fill out the week, but an awful lot of them are dead links or people haven’t blogged in years. I’m probably bringing back “Turn Back Time Thursdays”.

Insomnia is kickin’ my butt. Sunday I didn’t fall asleep until past 5am. I did avoid day napping, so hopefully I can get back on track.

Still can’t find a buyer for the Odyssey, as is, needing the transmission rebuilt. Don’t have the $800+towing to have the work done by our mechanic. With the transmission repaired I’d be able to sell it for double my original asking price. That would definitely get me out of a sticky situation.
