Our Governor's 6am wake-up call, taken away in handcuffs the day before his 52nd birthday.
Happy Birthday Governor Blagojevich!
Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich taken into federal custody
The head of the FBI office in Chicago said that "if Illinois isn't the most corrupt state in the United States, it's certainly one hell of a competitor."
Federal agents confiscated evidence from Governor Blagojevich's campaign office and his home. They tapped his home phone.
We Illinoisians are so proud.
what is it about Illinois governors? I was listening to the news and Blago is the 5th one to face charges (one was acquitted, the other three got jailed), but hey, he's the first to be arrested while still in office! Ummm, congrats for that record, Blago? :p
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's something in the water?
ReplyDeleteWay to keep up the tradition, huh?
I just hope the Republican don't find a way to drag Obama into this and create an even bigger scandal timed with the inauguration.
ReplyDeleteSighs in disgust.

JD,
ReplyDeleteOn the news it already sounds like they are trying to drag President Elect Obama into the fray. Blagojevich's office says he spoke with Obama last week, while President Elect Obama claims not to have spoken with him.
You know what gets me about this whole thing? It's that we all know that this is not the first Senate seat to be 'sold'. We all know that this is very likely the regular practice all over the country. It's just that the Feds NEED to pin something on Blagovjevich because they can't seem to get him on any of the Rezco stuff.
So far Blagojevich has proven to be like a 'teflon Don'. Nothing sticks to him. And he's just cocky enough to think that he can walk away from this unscathed.
I saw this on the news last night. What is he thinking?
ReplyDeleteTamika,
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing, I don't think he was thinking. I was listening to 720am Talk Radio in Chicago with John Williams, the host yesterday. He had a guest on via phone, but I didn't catch the name. The guest basically said that Blagojevich was self obsessed and really came close to saying delusional. He didn't say delusional, but from his words, that is certainly what he meant. I could not believe my ears.
