What was the best Christmas Gift you've ever gotten?

Apparently no one who has stopped at my blog since last night's post has ever gotten a bad Christmas gift.

Either that, or you just drop your card and move on and don't read/comment. How disappointing. I was really looking forward this morning to bunches of comments.

Why did you think it was the best?

Was it something you asked for?

How long ago did you get that gift?

Who was it from?

  1. Easy. Acoustic guitar when I was 10. It was something I asked for (tho my first choice was drums). I ended up taking lessons and actually winning a TROPHY for my stirring rendition of "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head."

Now it's sitting in my closet, gathering dust.

  4. ROLLER SKATES!! I wanted them sooooo badly when I was a midget me. I was so excited to get them I put them on immediately and skated around the kitchen. :)

Oh, and the other bestest gift was the first cat I had as an "adult". My sister rescued her from a bad situation and gave her to me at Christmas the year I was a senior in college. She was my angel kitty. :)

  5. Best Gift:
Son: December 23, 1998. . . Best because he says things. . . like Daddy, I love you and I don't have to ask him to say it or pay him. Everyone knows where he is from and who gave him to the world.

    Thanks for asking!

    And

I like diners. . . I write about one frequently - The Bingo Diner. You can probably guess where.

And I like Lola's diner too.

  6. When I was 7, I got an Aurora Sterling Moss Model Motoring racing car set. Remained favorite toy for many years afterwards. I wish I still had it.

  7. Babette,
I remember the year I got Monopoly too. It was a lean Christmas that year and it was the best.

  8. Chat Blanc,
Were they the rollerskate with the key? Remember "Brand New Key" by Melanie from 1971?
I rode my bicycle past your window last night
I roller skated to your door at daylight
It almost seems like you're avoiding me
I'm okay alone, but you got something I need

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I think that we should get together and try them out you see
    I been looking around awhile
    You got something for me
Oh! I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key

I ride my bike, I roller skate, don't drive no car
Don't go too fast, but I go pretty far
    For somebody who don't drive
I been all around the world
Some people say, I done all right for a girl

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I think that we should get together and try them out you see
    I been looking around awhile
    You got something for me
Oh! I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key

I asked your mother if you were at home
She said, yes .. but you weren't alone
Oh, sometimes I think that you're avoiding me
I'm okay alone, but you've got something I need

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I think that we should get together and try them out to see
La la la la la la la la, la la la la la la
Oh! I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key

  9. Koe,
Kids are the best when they're little, they say the greatest things. Then they become teenagers.

  11. There are two. The first was my new set of roller skates when I was 8 or 9. The second was the second year DH and I were married he bought me a doll for my collection without any prompting. I think he was trying to make up for the waffle iron the year before :)

This year... we are probably buying a power shovel for us both to use. Very romantic :)

  12. Light,
An Electric violin. I bet that will sound wonderful.

    Deb,
I think the best gifts ever are the ones that a lot of thought is put into them and it's something the recipient least expects.

I'm not sure I know what a power shovel is. Is that a piece of snow removal equipment?
