L Television

The The L Word’s final season begins this Sunday! Woo Hoo! Only not woo hoo. We no longer have Showtime. Anastasia and I will somehow have to wrangle an invite to her niece’s house to watch, or beg for them to tape it and share. If that fails, I’m hoping that AfterEllen.com does recaps like they’ve done in the past. I’ve signed up for Twittering the L Word also on AfterEllen.com, so hopefully even if I am unable to watch it, I can still get my fix and find out what’s going on.

So, if you’re a follower of the The L Word, are you psyched? What do you think of the spin-off? See Showtime Confirms L Word Spinoff. It's called The Farm. Alice goes to prison? Who do you think she ofts? Showtime’s L Word site says Jenny gets murdered? Why would Alice kill Jenny? I’m confused. Maybe Alice doesn't go to prison, maybe another character does, but she vigilantly tries to clear them, and maybe she gets arrested so she can break out the character arrested, ala Prison Break. Maybe all this information fed to the media about both shows is inaccurate to create some hype? Laurie Metcalf is one of three guest stars in the opening episode. I can’t wait. I hope she’s playing one of those quirky, psycho characters she plays so wonderfully.

I missed Gray’s Anatomy when it aired and watched it on ABC.com. Is anyone else getting tired of this Callie/Mc Steamy wingman thing that’s going on? Tell me, if Mc Steamy were an alcoholic instead of a sexaholic, and you were Callie, would you feel confident in having him be your AA sponsor? Seriously! Come on Callie, you’ve dipped your toes in the water, come on in, the water’s fine! Come on ABC, grow some cahonas. You know you want to.

I’m about to give up on All My Children (AMC) and Bianca and Reese. ABC needs to grow some daytime cahonas too. You were so cutting edge with the transgendered Zarf/Zoe and now Bianca and Reese getting married. What happened?

Private Practice, Episode 12 “Homeward Bound”. Well done. If you missed it, check it out on ABC.com. Best line of the episode, “You are who you are, and you shouldn’t have to hide that from anybody.”

  1. Lola, before we got rid of our premium channels, I started to watch the L, I really loved it too. I hope you find someone to at least tape them for you sweetie. Happy Saturday.

    God bless.

  2. There was a time I got hooked on shows, not so much when I was a kid (OK, Star Blazers), but after college. My now ex was a HUGE TV watcher. In my current incarnation, though, I effectively watch no shows religiously. I don't have any I need to see and my husband likes the Discovery Channel and Food TV type shows, fine to watch, but not heartbreaking if missed.

    Me, I'm a movie person.

  4. I just had to tell you how much I enjoy your blog Lola! And I'm so excited because I heard from all of my lesbian friends how wonderful the L word was but I didn't get the channel. Now I do and it's the LAST SEASON!!! But you can at least watch previous seasons now!

Big hugs to you for having such a wonderful blog!

  5. I didn't understaind what ever happened to Zoe on AMC. Or with this Reese came from. I had no idea Bianca was even pregnant until she all of a sudden showed back up on the show. I guess I missed something in there.

  6. tacK,
Thank you so much for the Triple Awards, I will be posting them early next week.

    Jodi,
I hope we find someone to borrow tapes/cd's from. I wouldn't want to have to wait until it comes out on DVD. The only thing I really miss from the premium channels is L Word and Weeds. Big Love was interesting, but it seems like it took forever for a new season. I'll watch that when it comes out on DVD.

    Stephanie Barr,
I have several shows I like to follow, but forget a lot of the time. Now I catch the abc shows online, 3 days after they aired when I remember I forgot. lol!

    Melissan,
    That would be great. Thanks!

    Reverend Maitri,
Thank you so much! I always appreciate hearing what people think of my blog. You can always rent the previous seasons of L Word. I find sometimes I enjoy a series more when I can watch them marathon style, back to back.

    Sue,
I started watching AMC on and off the beginning of 2007. Started watching regularly in September 2007. Zoe went off to London to pursue her music career. I have no idea where Reese came from either. I had heard on afterellen.com that Bianca was returning and would be pregnant. The whole Zack is the baby daddy storyline and Reese is somehow smitten is really ridiculous. And what's going on with Kendall? Is she going to live? So Josh, Erica's long lost son returns to Pine Valley wielding a gun. There is a shoot out with Zack. Josh clings to life. Will Erica pull the plug on Josh to give Kendall the heart transplant she needs? All this is getting too be too much for me.

  8. They had a 10 minute "teaser" on Showtime on demand that I watched last night. I guess they all have reason to kill Jenny - the title of the teaser was "who killed Jenny Shechter", so I'm guessing she's the one who has been killed. ;) As far as a spinoff, I've heard that too and now that you say Alice is in jail, well it might be her that killed her! Who knows! If I could send it via internet tonight, I would. I am an L word addict. (kind of like I am to american idol - however embarrassing).

  9. Yes I am sick of a lot of things with Grey's Anatomy this year. One of them being the whole Callie thing. It seems they are just dragging story lines on and on. I used to LOVE every episode of Grey's. Did they get some new writers or something?
On a positive note I have always been an ER fan and the writing this year has been wonderful as always. Too bad it's the last year.
