No, wait...what is your Thanksgiving Drama? Or maybe you don't having Thanksgiving Drama.
The kids will be at their dad's this year. My gf is not "out" and I have yet to meet her mom. I'm not going to possibly have another holiday ruined by a very uncomfortable, possibly hateful Thanksgiving. I may be meeting her over dinner the week of Thanksgiving, if something doesn't come up again. We've tried to plan this before. Anyway, this year I will be flying solo for Thanksgiving. My plan is to get my DIY on and get some decorating and cleaning projects done around the house. I may run out to a restaurant for my meal, or more likely, I will be having this:
Hey, it's not that bad! I plan on being VERY busy around the house. I'll be doing the DIY kind of stuff that I just want do to on my own and at my own pace. I will most likely cook Thanksgiving the following week. I will still be making a turkey dinner with all the usual trimmings, it's just a matter of when. Our menu rarely changes, except maybe adding a new dish. Lola's Thanksgiving Menu. Of course Roasted Brussels Sprouts will be on the menu, even brussels sprout haters loves them.
When I originally posted this as I typed it I was watching Grey's Anatomy repeats on late night. They aired one of the Thanksgiving episodes. The one where O'Malley has to shoot a turkey. I always love the Meredith Grey voiceovers. They're so well written. So poignant, sometimes profound. Here are just a few from the end of the episode:
"Being grateful for what you have...whatever that is."Frankly I can't wait until Thanksgiving is over. But then I'll only be more depressed, because I'm historically one of those crazies out there on Black Friday. My budget doesn't allow for Black Friday shopping this year. I may hit some resale shops with a friend of mine. (Goodwill rocks by the way!) Anyway, I'm going to have to find some other way to amuse myself from 3am Black Friday until 5pm. Any ideas? Most likely I will be getting my DIY on early. Lol!
"Maybe we're thankful for the familiar things we know...and maybe we're thankful for the things we'll never know."
"At the end of the day if we had courage enough to still be standing...it's reason enough to be thankful."
