Saturday 9 - How Long...

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

1. Have your discovered a betrayal? If so, did you ask, “How long has THIS been going on”? Yup. Nuf said.

2. What is the longest line you've ever stood in? Would you do it again? I tend not to stand in line anymore because of my back, however, I have stood in line probably an hour. Black Friday. Would I do it again? Yes, if I had the money to spend and it was something that was a great deal.

3. Someone has hung a sign around your neck, and you have to wear it all day long. What does it say? Smile!

4. As the Christmas season approaches, what song is it that you just can't wait to hear? I really can't think of one I can't wait to hear. Nothing comes to mind. I think I'd have to scroll through my Ipod for some ideas.

5. What Christmas song do you dread to hear? "Give Peace A Chance" John Lennon. Ugh!

6. How often do you read the last chapter of a book first? Never.

7. Do you have a favorite movie that you just love to see each year during the holidays? I have several favorites, but they have to be the original, not the 'colorized' versions. "It's A Wonderful Life", "Holiday Inn", "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation", "Jingle All The Way".

8. Do you enjoy winter in the area that you live? I would if my teenagers would actually shovel, instead of go out for 10 minutes and shuffle around and come back in and say they are done. Also, I'd enjoy it more if I got my snow thrower going.

9. At holiday I think we all show more kindness. In your opinion, is this a “concept” that has value (like money or other tangible things) or does it exist as simply emotion? Why? I think it's invaluable. It's just too bad that people only show it during the holiday season.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

The holidays are fast approaching...what do you dread most?

What is it that you dread most about the upcoming holidays?

Sure the gift wrapping is a bore, but I have my system...my tradition of watching Christmas classics as I attempt to wrap every single, solitary gift in 1 gift wrapping session. Every now and then I'll add a new movie to the collection to change things up.

Sure the crowded stores and malls are obnoxious, but I haven't done that in years. This year's strategy is to hit the resale shops early for high end, quality, gently used/like new or NWT clothing, then add in some unique gifts specially chosen for the recipient, possibly something handmade...then I'm done. I probably will still check out the Black Friday ads, however, if I make any purchases, they will likely be online, rather than at a brick and mortar store.

What I dread most...and it's something I haven't had to deal with in 4 years...is the holidays at the office. Don't get me wrong, I really actually like the people I work with, which is really nice for a change (no one calling me a bitch or miming inappropriate sexual acts in the office). The thing I dread most about holidays at the office is the Secret Santa. While the people I work with are really nice, I don't know much about them, nor do they no much about me. It's the whole, you don't want to appear cheap, yet don't want to look like you way overspent...and you don't want to get something totally wrong, or wuss out and get a gift card. At my previous job I simply refused to participate because of the...office dynamics. If my office does the Secret Santa thing, I will participate, but I will also dread it.

So...what do you dread about the upcoming holiday season? Tell us in the Comment section.

Answer to the first Ask me a question part dos...

Ok, when I posted my Answer to First Ask Me A Question, I asked: Which 5 things on the list do I actually want to do?

Only 1 person responded:

I'm going with:
white water rafting
tattoo
play guitar
skydive
and write your memoir

Am I right????

White water rafting? I was scarred for life getting into a small boat with a motor after my sister got in first. She was hugging the flippin' end of the pier so her weight was all on the side closest to the pier. When I stepped in...the boat rolled, flipping me under water, and under the pier.
Skydiving? You must be joking! Lol!
Lin got 3 out of 5 correct!
Get a tattoo - I decided that I wanted to get a tattoo when I turned 50. Since that happened in July, I decided to change it to get a tattoo while I'm 50.
Play guitar - I've always wanted to learn to play guitar. It would be so cool to learn and then bring it along camping and sing Kumbaya around the campfire. Lol! And no, I just don't want to learn Kumbaya, I want to learn some cool stuff too.
Write my memoir - Let's just say, no matter what angle I took, it would be a fascinating read. Lol!
The other 2 were learn to speak fluent Spanish, and learn to Salsa dance.

Rosie/OWN

I used to watch Rosie's old show religiously. I loved it. I'm not so sure about this one.

I haven't watched every episode, but I think I've watched enough to know that I'm not too keen on it.

I saw the episode where she visited the Bra Whisperer. I was pretty much mortified by her behavior. I'm not a prude, but when I got an awesome fitting bra awhile back I wasn't showing it to everyone. (Well...I did participate in down the shirt front camera shots at a bar once, but that was at a bar...not on television.)

Maybe I'm not liking the single Rosie? I dunno. I think the monologue is wayyy too long. She talks over her guests all the time. (Did she get that from being on The View?)

I want to like her. I want to support "family", but I dunno.

I don't much care for her idol worship of Oprah. She's always talking about her as if she's the best thing since sliced bread or something.

I do see that she's doing some of the same things she did on the old show, like giving away cool prizes to the audience.

Maybe if she gave me and my family a free Rosie cruise I'd change my mind.
