Day 63, 64, 65 of Sheltering In

Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

Saturday stayed in. Antibiotic for my sinus infection is causing abdominal pain, even after I switched to taking it after a meal. Not cool. Already got the coffee tin-ties for nose pieces for face masks. That was fast.

Sunday did a curbside pickup at Joann Fabrics. Got 3 spools of heavy duty thread, needle threaders. Also got my thread cutter delivered. Went to the largest Dollar Tree I have ever been to. They had just about  everything, not like the stores I usually go to. I picked up a laundry basket and filled it full of adult and kids coloring books, paint, brushes, wood crafts (to paint), sudoku books, chips, pudding, Pop Rocks. They even had fairy garden stuff. I had restraint, I’ve been wanting to do a fairy garden, but I have to finish the face masks first, so I bought none of it. I porch dropped it. It was a surprise, I didn’t tell her in advance. I had been talking to my wife about how there is no structure in the lockdown. During day program they had staff run groups, arts & crafts time, quiet time to read or use headphones and listen to music. It seems like a free for all over there, so I decided to buy arts & crafts stuff and some treats. I told my daughter to use the laundry basket to put anything that needed mending, shortening, or needs the front pockets made longer. (Yes, it can be done. I actually did 2 pairs for her sewing by hand.) She needs pockets long enough to safely hold her iPhone. Lady pants pockets are too small, so I searched YouTube to find out how to extend them.

Sunday/Monday. We were not amongst the asshats having large parties or going to crowded beaches or crowded swimming pools. All those people crowding at beaches and pools, not doing social distancing...Covid-19 soup. I’m really concerned for how this weekend’s free for all’s and all the openings are going to affect the transmission of the virus.

Speaking of the virus...I get emails from WebMD about the coronavirus and diabetes. The diabetes articles are very helpful, lots of good tips. This morning’s coronavirus update listed a new symptom, congestion. So, I’m calling my doctor in the morning. After our televisit on May 19th, he told me to call if I had any new symptoms. He actually was leaning towards sending me to get tested after the televisit, so I’m fairly certain I will be sent for testing. An urgent care and a CVS near me have drive up testing. Of course I want to make sure I don’t have it. I think this is just a bad sinus infection and my usual headache/migraine/cluster headache.

My in-law tested NEGATIVE. So that’s good. Her employer is making her take off a week AFTER she is symptom free. She just started that job less than a month ago.

Today it was pickle in the middle...I’m the pickle. There were a series of blow ups about the way my son does chores, and he’s talking back to my wife. 🤦🏻 It’s incredibly stressful. So I get screamed at with her telling me what’s going on. I could interrupt twenty times asking for her volume to be turned down, and it doesn’t happen. Because he has a mental illness and forgets, or doesn’t do his chores properly he’s lazy and no amount of my explaining to my wife that those are symptoms of his illness will convince her of this fact. It gets worse when he’s not doing well.

Watching the last couple episodes of Mrs. America on Hulu. It’s really interesting because the time period covered I was young and didn’t follow the news, just bits and pieces and now I’m learning about what I missed. It’s fictional, but seems fairly accurate.
