Day 69 of Sheltering In

Friday. NEGATIVE. Corona test was negative!!!!

What’s this about a new stay at home order? I read the what’s happening today off some site on Google. It was referring to the new rules for churches and said they would be announced with the new stay at home order.

Considering some places are already Re-closing... A county in California announced it has to re-close because of a spike in cases.

Day 68 of Sheltering In

Thursday. Wednesday I went to the drive up at the hospital and had the coronavirus test. My doctor sent an order over so there was no bs about not knowing if you’ve been in contact with someone with the virus and you say no or you don’t know and they send you away and don’t do the test. I had the test done. They said 24-48 hours they would send the results to my doctor and his office would let me know.

I thought for sure I’d be called with the results Thursday. Nope. I even checked MyChart to see if the test results were there. Nope. My doctor’s office is only open until noon on Fridays. If I don’t hear from him I will have to continue to isolate until I do, which means until Monday. It’s not like I have major plans, but I haven’t gone grocery shopping this week. Since my wife’s TNR’s messed up her back she seldom goes out, and never for more than a couple items, not a full grocery shop. It’s not like we have no food, we just don’t have any fresh fruit and veggies, and the milk is probably bad.

My daughter is having a laundry emergency. Why she had to wait to attempt laundry until ALL her clothes over there are dirty I have no idea. They have 2 washers and dryers at her group home. One washer broke yesterday and the other clients are saying they are both broken. She couldn’t get a straight answer from day staff today cuz that woman ALWAYS has to be difficult. She probably knows, but is messing with my daughter. It’s a sport for this woman and it really ticks me off.

We did not tell my daughter about my getting tested, but my wife insisted my son had to go with us, so he obviously knows. My wife drove. Let’s just leave it at that. K? My son had to have told his sister, but in all the many, many calls from her today she never mentioned it. She also never questioned why I might not be able to leave the house on Friday.

In lighter news, the kids have asked us what we want for Father’s Day. Yes, we got gifts for Mother’s Day, and cards, but since we are basically Mom and Dad, they like to treat us special for both. It’s sweet. And the 🍒  on top is that because their dad has been a major asshat earlier this week, they have blocked all his phone numbers. If he would behave like a proper human being, he wouldn’t get blocked. My kids enjoy going to Grandpa’s house on Father’s Day. He is the only Grandpa they have ever known, so they make plans every year and every year their dad acts like an asshat. He says ‘that’s not even your real grandpa, you should be seeing me, I’m your dad.’ He’s never acted like a dad, never sees them. Sometimes it goes for over a year, two years that he doesn’t see them. He can’t fit them into his busy, not even working schedule. No child support, never followed the support order, and he’d buy gifts for them but never let them have them.

Day 66, 67 of Sheltering In

Tuesday, Wednesday.

Tuesday I left a message for my PCP. His assistant called just after they closed. I missed the call because my son wouldn’t answer my phone. I couldn’t get to it and he was within arms reach, but he still wouldn’t answer it. Wtfork? He ended up handing it to me when it stopped ringing. Couldn’t call back because they were closed.

Wednesday. Called PCP, got Televisit for late morning. Keep in mind we just had one May 19th. His first sentence was “Wow, you don’t look good, how are you doing?” Went through my list of symptoms and then he asked a few questions and said he was sending an order over to the hospital for coronavirus testing. He said to call central scheduling in a 1/2 hour or longer to give them time to get the order. I have an appointment late this afternoon. I was told they usually have results in 24 hours, but may take as long as 48. What’s disturbing is they set up the coronavirus testing at the Cancer Care entrance. Of all the entrances they have, they pick that.

So I’m on isolation until the test results come back. I’ve been complaining I can’t have a minute to myself lately, now I’ve got a couple days. Not the way I’d like to have time to myself.

This morning I tried getting up several times, but ended up going back to bed. I feel like I’ve been hit by a Mack truck. I’m betting I don’t have the coronavirus, more than likely it’s the flu. I did get a flu shot, but that doesn’t protect against every strain.

Here’s hoping I draw the short swab. Lol! It seems from what I’ve read that they are using the shorter swab.

I’m having a nap now. 🤞🙏🏻

UPDATE:  Went and had the test. The swab wasn’t super long, but it wasn’t short either. They jam that thing up and into China and twist for a count of 10. Then they do the same on the other nostril. The person who did my test gave me a tissue for, you know, in case I tear up. I didn’t, but I image it could bring some to tears. I did feel like I needed to sneeze after the first nostril and wow, did she back away. I wasn’t trying to be funny, it tickled way up there and for a couple minutes I felt like I was going to sneeze. I didn’t. But I did give fair warning in case I did. My nostrils still feel violated. Not saying it to be funny. For realz. I have congestion and if I pinch near the bridge of my nose it still feels weird inside. All in all, it wasn’t that bad. Definitely not as bad as getting my nasal passages scoped at the ear eye and throat doctor.

Day 63, 64, 65 of Sheltering In

Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

Saturday stayed in. Antibiotic for my sinus infection is causing abdominal pain, even after I switched to taking it after a meal. Not cool. Already got the coffee tin-ties for nose pieces for face masks. That was fast.

Sunday did a curbside pickup at Joann Fabrics. Got 3 spools of heavy duty thread, needle threaders. Also got my thread cutter delivered. Went to the largest Dollar Tree I have ever been to. They had just about  everything, not like the stores I usually go to. I picked up a laundry basket and filled it full of adult and kids coloring books, paint, brushes, wood crafts (to paint), sudoku books, chips, pudding, Pop Rocks. They even had fairy garden stuff. I had restraint, I’ve been wanting to do a fairy garden, but I have to finish the face masks first, so I bought none of it. I porch dropped it. It was a surprise, I didn’t tell her in advance. I had been talking to my wife about how there is no structure in the lockdown. During day program they had staff run groups, arts & crafts time, quiet time to read or use headphones and listen to music. It seems like a free for all over there, so I decided to buy arts & crafts stuff and some treats. I told my daughter to use the laundry basket to put anything that needed mending, shortening, or needs the front pockets made longer. (Yes, it can be done. I actually did 2 pairs for her sewing by hand.) She needs pockets long enough to safely hold her iPhone. Lady pants pockets are too small, so I searched YouTube to find out how to extend them.

Sunday/Monday. We were not amongst the asshats having large parties or going to crowded beaches or crowded swimming pools. All those people crowding at beaches and pools, not doing social distancing...Covid-19 soup. I’m really concerned for how this weekend’s free for all’s and all the openings are going to affect the transmission of the virus.

Speaking of the virus...I get emails from WebMD about the coronavirus and diabetes. The diabetes articles are very helpful, lots of good tips. This morning’s coronavirus update listed a new symptom, congestion. So, I’m calling my doctor in the morning. After our televisit on May 19th, he told me to call if I had any new symptoms. He actually was leaning towards sending me to get tested after the televisit, so I’m fairly certain I will be sent for testing. An urgent care and a CVS near me have drive up testing. Of course I want to make sure I don’t have it. I think this is just a bad sinus infection and my usual headache/migraine/cluster headache.

My in-law tested NEGATIVE. So that’s good. Her employer is making her take off a week AFTER she is symptom free. She just started that job less than a month ago.

Today it was pickle in the middle...I’m the pickle. There were a series of blow ups about the way my son does chores, and he’s talking back to my wife. 🤦🏻 It’s incredibly stressful. So I get screamed at with her telling me what’s going on. I could interrupt twenty times asking for her volume to be turned down, and it doesn’t happen. Because he has a mental illness and forgets, or doesn’t do his chores properly he’s lazy and no amount of my explaining to my wife that those are symptoms of his illness will convince her of this fact. It gets worse when he’s not doing well.

Watching the last couple episodes of Mrs. America on Hulu. It’s really interesting because the time period covered I was young and didn’t follow the news, just bits and pieces and now I’m learning about what I missed. It’s fictional, but seems fairly accurate.
