Happy Easter Peeps!

Remember Easter Bonnets? If you were a girl growing up in the 50's or 60's you probably sported one of these on Easter Sunday. You also probably wore a frilly dress, patent leather Mary Janes and a dressy spring coat.
Remember the feel of that weird spongy fabric those spring coats were made of? It was probably polyester (wasn't everything made of polyester back then?), but it was just an odd texture. I tried to find a photo of the exact kind of coat I'm talking about, but this was the closest I could find online. If I could find my photo album from my childhood, there is a lovely black and white snapshot of me, sporting an Easter Bonnet with a shorter brim than pictured, wearing a pink (I do remember the color) spring coat, white eyelet ankle socks and patent leather Mary Janes. However, as was the case with most of my early photographs, I appeared to have only 1 leg. I assure you that to this day, I continue to have 2 legs! Lol! I always stood with 1 leg up and because of the length of my dress, I always appeared to be missing a leg. It drove my Dad crazy! Lol!

I still have eggs to color and this year I am again going to attempt an Italian Easter Bread. Wish me luck! My Grandmother used to make them every year for Easter. I made one when my kids were little and it was a big hit. I saw the recipe over at Cinnamon Spice And Everything Nice and will be using it since I've lost track of my Grandmother's recipe. I'm also cooking Easter dinner. I really haven't nailed down the menu, other than I know we are having a spiral ham. I'll let you know how the Italian Easter Bread turned out.
I hope everyone has a
Happy Easter!

Great Easter post! I'm almost sad that the hat fad went out; I would have loved to wear one when I was younger.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, and good luck with your Easter Bread!

(As soon as I read the description of those polyester coats, I remembered EXACTLY how they felt!)

Thank goodness I never had to wear anything like that! There would have been tantrums. :)

Our Easter tradition is a Simnel cake, a fruit cake covered in marzipan. I wouldn't say no to some now.

Happy Easter to you, too, Lola! I saw the recipe over at Cinnamon and Spice, too, and it brought back so many memories! A happy Easter dinner... I'm off to pull the ham out of the oven.

lol, I remember those days!! My mom love to dress me up. I remember the crinoline under the dresses, drove me crazy. Also wore the matching coat, and that hat. I even saw a picture the other day of me in one of the Easter outfits, lol. Saw that Easter bread recipe also, wanted to make it, printed it, did not get to it, hope you do. Happy Easter to You.

@ Princessparkle - It is such a cute look for the little ones.

@ Babette, Atelier de Soyun - Unfortunately I did not make the Italian Easter Bread. I was really looking forward to it too.

@ JD - I just remember them feeling really odd, and there was an odd smell too.

@ A. - Ohh, I LOVE fruitcake.

@ Chameleon - Hope the ham turned out well.

@ Mom's Cafe Home Cooking - Happy Easter to you too.

@ Auntie E - Easter was really the only time we got dressed up like that. And I don't miss it. Lol!

Yes, I remember dressing up in fancy clothes. Sometimes the weather didn't cooperate and our spring frocks were a bit cold!
