I've Got A Few Questions For You...

If you could be friends with any celebrity, who would you pick and why? What do you see you and your celebrity friend doing?

What celebrity would you NOT want to be friends with, and why?

I always thought I would want to be friends with Rosie O'Donnell, but when I met her at a book signing in Skokie, IL, I changed my mind. She didn't seem as personable as I expected her to be. So my alternate pick would be Ellen DeGeneres. She's intelligent (or so it seems) and she's funny as hell. I imagine Ellen and Portia and Anastasia and myself having margaritas at their place and eating vegetarian pizza (they're vegetarians) in their fabulously decorated home. Maybe we'd play Pictionary after the pizza. I picture all white carpeting, white walls and all white furniture, because isn't that what all celebrities have? You can see I've clearly thought this through.

What celebrity would I not want to be friends with? I have 2 picks. One would be Oprah. I don't find her very intelligent (at least from watching her show) and she doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor, if at all. And it would drive me crazy, absolutely homicidal, postal crazy if she went around yelling "Loooooooollllllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaa". (You know how she takes a word and elongates it and screams it, like when she's doing an introduction on her show.) Seriously. My other pick would be Angelina Jolie. She just seems to freaky weird. And besides, she's got like how many kids now?

So...

If you could be friends with any celebrity, who would you pick and why? What do you see you and your celebrity friend doing?

What celebrity would you NOT want to be friends with, and why?

TIM GUNN!

TIM GUNN is my celebrity friend. DEFINITELY. No need to even think for three seconds about it. Having met him (ahem), I know he is just as charming, intelligent, gracious, kind, and funny as he comes across on TV. Plus he could give me fashion tips (that I would probably ignore). 2d place goes to Kelly Clarkson. She just seems like fun.

There are quite a few celebrities I wouldn't want as friends. If I had to pick one, tho . . . I'd go with Kanye West. For reasons that should be obvious.

Robin Williams, he is so funny..I would just be in stitches all the time.
would not want to be friends with Rosie either.. she is a jerk in my mind. I could probably think at a couple others but my mind just isn't working this morning. when it starts to wake up,lol. "I'll be Back" as Arnold would say...

I would definitely not want to be friends with Angelina Jolie, I don't hang out with home wreckers, Brad Pitt....Maybe...

I think Carson Kressly would be fun and he'd make me feel good about myself at the same time.

There was this video that my son had when he was little, A Real Wheels video called There Goes a Bulldozer with construction foreman Dave. He made a lot of different videos about firetrucks and that sort of thing. Dave was always kind of goofy and funny and he was kinda cute too. I think he would be fun to be friends with. I was kinda lonely when my son was little. Of course I wanted to be more than just friends.

Ellen seems like she would be the most fun to be around and she also seems to be the most genuine out there.

I totally would pick Ellen too! She's funny and she knows everyone!

Oh, good questions! I have to agree with Jen that I would NOT want to be friends with Angelina Jolie. Besides the whole homewrecker thing, she doesn't seem to have much control over her kids. That's a HUGE pet peeve of mine.

As for who I would want to be friends with...believe it or not, Jennifer Aniston. And not just to Jolie-bash. I have always enjoyed her work on Friends and she seems to have a very approachable persona. I could picture doing a girls night out with a bunch of friends - dinner, a movie, shopping, etc.

Dammit! JD stole my man! I met him first, JD, you big copycat!!!! (JK, but not really)

I'd go with Tim Gunn first because I'd want to eat lunch with him and then go shopping and he could help me find nice clothes. Plus he's just so sweet I'd want to hug him ALL day. Plus, I think I'd knit Tim a sweater because he's my friend. Love him. (did I mention that?_

The other person would be to travel with Michael Palin (Monty Python). I loved his travel series from about 15 years ago and he just seems like the greatest guy--everyone LOVES him wherever he goes because he is just so genuinely nice and respectful to everyone.

I don't want to know: Rosie, Oprah (ICK!), Tom Cruise, Angelina, Brad, Britney Spears......uh, did you want me to keep going??

JD - I knew you and Lin would pick Tim Gunn! Kanye West is a good pick for not being friends with.

Auntie E - Robin Williams is a good pick, but I don't think I could afford the amount of Depends necessary to be around him for any length of time. I saw him at a show years ago and I never laughed so much in my life. I actually hurt from laughing.

Jen - Carson would be cool too, although he can be too brutal at times. And the Dave, thing, I think that was an over share. Lol!

@ JAM - Exactly!

@ Stacey C4 - Jennifer Aniston always seemed kind of stuck up, but that's just my impression. The girls night sounds like fun though.

@ Lin - Lol! The early bird gets Tim Gunn I guess. Lol! I somehow missed that travel show with Michael Palin. He's hilarious too.

I'd like Stacy London of "What Not to Wear." She's a hoot! And please don't let Joan Rivers anywhere near me.

OMG, I adore Tim Gunn! I totally want to win that lunch with him in NYC that they keep advertising during Project Runway.

I've met a lot of celebrities over the years and the one unifying theme is that they are just people -- who happen to have achieved varying degrees of fame. Some are full of themselves, others not. I always thought I would love to meet Julie Andrews until she ended up #1 on the list of celebrities who are rude to fans. That shocked and disappointed me.

Among the nastiest I ever met were Yul Brynner and Donna McKechnie (when she was at the height of her "A Chorus Line" fame). Also not a favorite is Erika Slezak from "One Life to Live," although, to be fair, I had written some unflattering things about her in response to her public commentary about my late, dear friend, Clint Ritchie. Clint was always gracious to fans. Also delightful were Carl Weathers, Robin Strasser, Valerie Harper, Henry Winkler and the entire cast of "Happy Days" except for Tom Bosley.
