2. The doorbell buzzes at the same moment the phone rings. Who was on the phone? That would be freaky because I don't have a doorbell. (Well, it's actually still in the bag from Menard's. 'Someone' is supposed to install it for me.) I have no idea who would be on the phone.

3. It seems that there are several very popular memes each day of the week. Which meme did you first become a regular of? Probably Sunday Stealing.

4. It is about time that Berleen and Kimber meet in person. Should we start a collection to fly one of them to the other, or just hope Thom’s bus and get from Hawaii to Kimber in Arizona and take her to Berleen in Minnesota? I think you all need to start up a collection so I can go take a real vacation on the beach with umbrella drinks. I haven't had a real vacation since 1985.

5. Tell us about your pets. Do you have one that you wish would run away? I have 2 cats and I don't want either one to run away.

6. What was the last thing colored red that you wore? T-shirt.

7. I have a train that runs by where I live several times a day. I actually find it peaceful. What’s the longest journey that you have taken by train? Probably to and from work when I used to work in downtown Chicago.

8. If Kimber threw a five dollar bill off a building that was five stories high, and Berleen threw a twenty off a build that was six stories high, who do you think would find the money? I have no idea. Probably someone who happens to walk by.

9. If reincarnation really happens, whose life would you like to know that you have already led? Can't think of anyone.

10. What are your three favorite possessions? My computer, my palm pilot and my cell phone.

11. A lot of people still believe that Elvis is alive. Have you ever worn blue suede shoes? No, not blue.

12. Do you have siblings? If yes, are you anything alike? Yes, I have 1 sister and NO! Thank goodness.

Random Tuesday Thoughts

So state Reps. John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford suggested to Governor Quinn that he call in the National Guard to stop gun violence in Chicago. Daley: City Needs Gun Laws, Not The Guard - Chicago Tribune. When has the National Guard ever stepped in to stop gun violence? How do gun laws curb gun violence when the criminals don't buy their guns legally? Seriously.? How about increasing the police force and making them a greater presence and cracking down on gangs? Bringing in the National Guard would be a temporary fix, if that. I'm so glad I moved out of Chicago. The neighborhood I used to live in was starting to get sketchy. One of my daughter's classmates was beaten to death by gangs shortly before we left. Where I live now isn't without crime, but it's much safer than there.

A trophy for the Crosstown Classic? Quest For The 'Cup': Cubs, Sox To Vie For Trophy - Chicago Tribune. This just seems silly to me.

My cat is a peeping tom

Ok, so my cat, Irish, is a peeping tom. Either that or she's a closet lesbian. (I do keep finding her in the closet lately since I cleaned it out.) Anyway, every time I shower and get dressed, she's there.
She follows me into the bathroom. And just sits in the doorway and watches while I do what one usually does in the bathroom to get ready for the day, or for a date. She stands watch as I'm in the shower. She watches as I towel off, use deodorant, put gunk in my hair and brush my teeth. Then she follows me to the bedroom and watches while I get dressed.

My cat that passed away, Sophie, could have cared less what I did, never followed me, watched me or stood guard.

If I close the bathroom door, Irish is stretching her paws under the door and rolling upside down trying to get a peek under the door. How do I know this? Because our bathroom doors have a big gap at the bottom.

Is she standing guard? Is she interested/fascinated/confused about what I'm doing? She's been there every single time since I switched to showering upstairs. Is she fascinated with that fact that we humans put on clothes, while she runs around nekkid in her cute red and white fur coat?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day.

I'm not working, so I won't be participating this year. I have participated at several of my jobs in the past. My most recent job at a real estate company, the VP planned a special luncheon for the parents and children. At my previous job at a small village government, tours were planned for the Police and Fire Departments, and the Water Department. Lunch was also served.

I always thought it was a great idea and I'm a little miffed that they are considering switching the date to a day during Summer Break. The whole point of the event is to have the children share their experience the next day at school.

Are you participating with any of your children? Has your school put you on notice not to participate? What do you think of the proposed date change?

Realm Of Empires

My friend has gotten me involved in Realm Of Empires on Facebook. No, don't click off, this is not like many of the other games on Facebook. It requires planning and strategy to build your village and attack other villages. A big part of the game is interaction with other players. You can plot coordinated attacks, or you can go it solo. You can also build alliances.

To start out, you join a clan and begin building your village.

Random Tuesday Thoughts

The weather here has been perfection. I love when the temperature is cooler. It's the perfect time to start little projects around the yard. My first project is getting the lawn mower going. Since I failed to remove the riding mower battery, it was dead when I attempted to start it today. I had to run out and get a new battery charger, and I've got it charging now. I'm crossing my fingers that it will start once it's charged. The lawn is out of control. My neighbor did mow the side yard for me. They usually just mow the ditch by my side yard, but I guess they must have been happy to be out mowing the other day and went ahead and mowed the whole thing. Thanks!

UPDATE: The riding mower did start after charging it. I got the front done. The back was really high. It died after doing the perimeter and wouldn't start. I put it back on charge, went out an hour later, started it and finished. Woo hoo!

Thoughts are also turning to golf and picnics and bbq's. My first bbq of the year is Saturday. I hope the weather cooperates.

I've also been doing my share of Spring cleaning. Arghh! But it does feel good.

I actually am enjoying having the front door open and windows open today. Drummerboy/aka Metallica-head is all quiet today. (I hope I haven't jinxed myself.) It's so nice to hear the woodpeckers and birds, instead of his repetitive drumming of the same bad drum riff, or his blasting of 70's music. It's not that I don't like 70's music, I love it, but I prefer to enjoy it on my own terms, when I choose to listen to it, rather than having to be forced to listen to his music.

Friday Randomness

I skipped Random Tuesday, so you get Friday Randomness.

First it was Rosie and Kelly. Now Melissa and Tammy? They were together almost 9 years. That's long for any celebrity couple, let alone a celebrity lesbian couple.

Larry King. Seriously? Giving very expensive gifts to your wife's sister? Gifts better than you gave your wife? No pre-nup? She should take you to the cleaners.

Enough celebrity stuff.

Yesterday I took my car to the dealer for an oil change. Which turned into an oil change, differential fluid change and tire rotation. To which they then tried to turn into brake fluid flush and change and transmission fluid flush and change. They tried scaring me, saying both were dirty and contaminated. I just had a brake job a couple months ago and happened to have the number of the mom and pop joint that did it. I had the manager look up in his records. Yes, they flushed the brake fluid and changed it. He told me there would be no reason for changing it so soon, other than lining the pockets of the dealer. I asked his opinion on the transmission fluid and he said the same thing.

I did more online clothing shopping last Sunday. Every pair of pants I own were way too baggy. Some way way way too baggy. So I splurged and shopped at 3 different sites, one of them Old Navy. Can I tell you how much I LOVE Old Navy? They rock! When I was trying to figure out what size to order, I found out that their sizing chart is different than the other 2 sites and I had to order two sizes smaller, instead of one! (Thank goodness I checked the sizing charts.) I was so psyched! Everything came yesterday and I immediately tried it all on. Everything fit!

Insomnia returns. I'm actually writing this live past 3am. Why? I have no idea, I just know that I could not sleep. Nothing going on, not the usual stress or what have you. I just plain can't sleep.
